Although it's great to see financial reparations on the COP agenda for the first time, in my view, the weight of the actions should be on reducing CO2 emissions globally, as this is the source of the issues developed countries are facing.
While funding can reduce risks from climate impacts, "these efforts will be overwhelmed by increasingly extreme weather events unless combined with aggressive efforts to curb global warming", as outlined in the IPCC report on climate change, released earlier this year.
